Sham is the old name for Syria and the lands around it. - **How far it is from Makkah.** About 180 km, says Saudipedia. Of the three miqat points we reach from Jeddah, it is the farthest out. - **Its link to Rabigh.** The site is in Rabigh Governorate, near the town of Rabigh. Saudipedia says a miqat in Rabigh, about 17 km away, has taken its place. - **The old town.** The Prophet stopped at al-Juhfah on his way to the Farewell Hajj. Digs have found the walls of an old Islamic town there, built of black stone.
