Masjid Ji’ranah taxi from Makkah and back
Ji’ranah (also written Ju’ranah, Jirana or Jurana, since the spelling is not fixed in English) is a mosque outside Makkah that many pilgrims already in the city use as the starting point for another Umrah. A masjid Jirana taxi from your Makkah hotel covers the drive out, the time you spend there, and the drive back, all for one fare agreed before you travel. Umrah Online Taxi books this trip the same way as any other miqat run, with a driver who waits at the mosque rather than one you have to call back once you are ready to leave.

What Ji’ranah is
Ji’ranah is one of the miqat points (spelled meeqat on some of our older pages) commonly used by pilgrims who are already in Makkah and want to enter ihram for a further Umrah. It sits outside the boundary of the Haram, which is why people travel there rather than starting ihram from within the city. We are not able to give a ruling on when or whether a second Umrah is appropriate for you, since that is a religious question rather than a transport one, and where practice differs, it is worth asking your group leader or a scholar you trust. What we can tell you is how the trip works and what it costs.

Where the driver meets you
Pick-up is your Makkah hotel lobby, at whatever time you choose. The driver takes you out to the mosque, waits while you change into ihram and pray, then brings you back to the same hotel. If you would rather stop somewhere on the way back, such as for food or a rest, mention it when you book.
How far is Ji’ranah from the Haram?
A return trip with time to change and pray typically runs 1 hour 30 to 2 hours, depending on how long you spend at the mosque and the time of day you travel. Traffic on the approach roads out of Makkah is the main variable, so leaving outside the busiest hours around Isha tends to be quicker.
What the fare includes
The return fare covers the vehicle for your party only, the driver, fuel, tolls and parking, and a waiting period at the mosque while you change and pray. If you need longer than the trip normally takes, tell the driver and the extra time is charged at the hourly rate rather than as a surprise on top of the fixed fare. There is no Nusuk charge on this route, since that only applies to airport pick-ups.
Which vehicle suits this trip
A couple or small family travelling together for this errand is usually well served by the Camry or Sonata, since the trip does not involve heavy luggage. If your group includes several people entering ihram at once, or anyone who needs a bit more room to change comfortably, the Staria or Hiace gives more space without a large jump in fare. Groups doing this as part of a wider Umrah party, with more than eight or nine people going together, are better served by the Hiace or Coaster so nobody is left waiting for a second car.
How to book this trip
Message us with your hotel name, the day and time you want to go, and how many people are entering ihram. If you would like the driver to also cover the Makkah ziyarat loop or a stop at Masjid Ayesha in the same outing, ask, and we will quote the combined trip. Payment is to the driver at the end of the return journey, in cash or by bank transfer.
Other ways to make this trip
Some pilgrims combine this errand with a taxi hailed on the day, though drivers unfamiliar with the mosque sometimes need directions and the fare is agreed only once you are in the car. A booked trip means the driver already knows the site and the road, and the fare including the wait is fixed before you leave your hotel. We do not list what other services charge for this route, only what ours does.
Tips for this trip
Wudu before you leave your hotel saves time, since facilities at the mosque can be busy. Dress ready to travel in ihram if you plan to change at the mosque rather than beforehand, and bring water for the wait, since the site is outdoors. If you are combining this with another stop in Makkah the same day, tell us when you book so the route is planned in the right order.
Frequently asked questions
It is commonly used as one by pilgrims already in Makkah who want to enter ihram for another Umrah. For a ruling on whether it applies to your situation, ask your group leader or a scholar.
Roughly 25 to 30 km, with a return trip including waiting time usually taking 1 hour 30 to 2 hours.
Both are used as miqat points by pilgrims already in Makkah. Masjid Ayesha is closer and cheaper to reach, while Ji’ranah is further out. Which one applies to you is a question for your group leader, not for us to answer.
