Which vehicle to book
A couple flying in with a suitcase each can take a Camry or a Sonata. These sedans take four people and two large cases. A family of five to seven with full cases fits in the Staria. The GMC Yukon XL also has seven seats, with a higher seat that older travellers find easier.

Meeting your driver at Taif Airport
Taif International Airport is in Al Hawiyah, on the north east side of Taif. It is about 30 km by road from the city centre. Add your flight number to the booking. We keep track of the flight, so a late landing does not change the fare (airports and flights).
Once the plane is down, your driver parks at the airport and goes in on foot. He waits in the hall with your name on a card for as long as your bags take. Then he wheels them out to the car with you.
For the ride to the airport, he comes to the lobby of your Makkah hotel at the time we agree with you.
How to book your Taif Airport taxi
- Send your flight. We need the flight number, the landing date and the name of your hotel in Makkah. Say how many of you are coming.
- Get one fare in writing. It arrives on WhatsApp, with the vehicle we suggest.
- Say yes. We take no deposit. You pay the driver when the ride ends (how to pay).

The road from Taif Airport down to Makkah
- Taif Airport. Your driver greets you inside the hall and takes the bags to the car.
- As-Sayl al-Kabir. About 30 km from the airport, the road passes this town on its way west.
- Down to Makkah. About 85 km more, from the high ground near Taif to the city.
- Your Makkah hotel. At prayer times the streets by the Haram, the Grand Mosque, are shut to traffic. Your driver then stops at the closest point that is open.
On this road, the miqat (where you must be in ihram, the Umrah state) is the mosque at As-Sayl al-Kabir. Its other name is Qarn al-Manazil. If you come for Umrah and need it, ask for a stop there when you book. The stop is part of the fare. Your driver will show you the mosque, though rulings are not his job. Ask a scholar or your group leader where you should enter ihram.
Some drivers take the Al Hada mountain road instead, which is about as long. Its miqat mosque is Wadi Muharram. The Al Hada road is closed to big buses, and that rule covers the Toyota Coaster too. So a Coaster or a Coach always goes by As-Sayl al-Kabir.
Taxi or bus from Taif Airport
Buses between Taif and Makkah run at set times. If you plan to take one, check its times and where it stops before you fly. Taif has no train station. A booked taxi waits for your plane, takes all your bags and goes straight to your hotel door.
