Overview

Your Makkah to Riyadh taxi collects you and your cases at a Makkah hotel. It drops you at your home, a hotel or any other door in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. With about 870 km to cover, it is a drive of 9 hr 30 to 10 hr 30. Treat it as a full day. One vehicle makes the whole trip. It is a good fit once your Umrah is over and Riyadh is where you live.

A whole vehicle from your Makkah hotel to any Riyadh address costs from SAR 1,000, one way. Riyadh is about 870 km by road. Plan on a drive of 9 hr 30 to 10 hr 30. Stops for each prayer, a meal and rest cost nothing extra, though you pay for your own food.

Makkah to Riyadh taxi fare for each vehicle

You pay one price for the vehicle, not per seat, in Saudi Riyal. It takes you one way, from the lobby of any Makkah hotel to any address in Riyadh. Prayer, meal and rest stops sit inside that one price.

Room for the family and the luggage

If you bought gifts on the trip, your luggage may have grown. A Camry or a Sonata holds 2 large cases and 2 hand bags, enough for a couple who travel light. The Staria and the GMC Yukon XL each seat seven, with room for 6 large cases and 4 hand bags. The Yukon sits higher, which helps anyone with stiff knees.

A family of eight to eleven fits in the Hiace, which takes 10 large cases. A group of twelve or more needs the Coaster (19 seats) or the Coach (44 seats). Travelling with a folding wheelchair? Choose the Staria or the Hiace, which have room for it in the boot (wheelchairs and child seats).

At the time you agree, the driver waits for you in the hotel lobby. Every hotel in Makkah has one fare to Riyadh. This is true for hotels beside the Haram, the Grand Mosque, and for those on Ibrahim Al Khalil Road or in Aziziyah. Cars cannot use the streets next to the Haram while a prayer is on. At those times your driver parks as close as he can get, and helps bring the cases to the vehicle.

Half an hour of waiting at the hotel is part of your booking. Past that point, the hourly rate starts (how extras are charged).

Still need a ride across Makkah before you go? The Makkah taxi fares cover trips inside the city.

Booking a taxi from Makkah to Riyadh

  1. Share the route. Send your Makkah hotel and a map pin of the Riyadh address.
  2. List the passengers. Give the number of adults and children, and the age of each child who needs a seat.
  3. Add the luggage. Count large cases, hand bags and Zamzam containers.
  4. Receive the quote. You get a WhatsApp message with the vehicle and its fare. The driver’s details reach you before the day.

Message us on WhatsApp, at any hour.

The day on the road, step by step

  1. Check out first. Pay the hotel and hand in your keys before the driver arrives. Then the waiting time is used for loading.
  2. Out of Makkah. Streets near the Haram can be slow around prayer times. The first stretch may take longer than you expect.
  3. Pausing to pray and eat. When a prayer time comes, your driver finds a place to stop. There is also a stop for a meal, at a time you choose.
  4. A Riyadh address. Share a map pin before the day. The driver brings you to the gate and helps unload.

Riyadh Province borders Makkah Province on the east, so the road heads east all day. Ask the driver for a short rest stop whenever someone needs to stretch.

Flying, coach or taxi: transport from Makkah to Riyadh

Most people who live in or visit Makkah Province fly from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. Flights from there to Riyadh land at King Khalid International Airport. So a flight adds a ride to Jeddah, check-in and a ride across Riyadh. Flight times come from the airline, so confirm them there. For the first leg, book the Makkah to Jeddah Airport taxi.

Intercity coaches also run between Makkah and Riyadh, from bus station to bus station at set times. The coach company sets the times and stops. A taxi leaves your hotel when you are ready, and your cases stay with you the whole day.

Your fare includes

  • Pick-up from the lobby of any Makkah hotel, with half an hour of waiting
  • Prayer, meal and rest stops on the road (you buy your own food)
  • Fuel, road tolls and parking
  • Drop-off at your Riyadh address
  • Cases up to your vehicle’s limit

Tell us each child’s age, and the child seat costs nothing. Payment is made to the driver in Riyadh (how to pay). Free changes have a time limit, so check cancelling and changing.

Tips before you leave Makkah

A last prayer at the Haram

If you want one more prayer at the Grand Mosque, set the pick-up for about an hour after it. That gives you time to walk back and collect your bags.

Zamzam for home

Each container is heavy and takes boot space. Add them to your case count when you message us.

Children on a long ride

Pack small games, snacks and a spare set of clothes in a hand bag.

Madinah first?

If you also want days in Madinah, book the Makkah to Madinah taxi for that part. From Madinah, the Madinah to Riyadh taxi takes you home.

Questions about the Makkah to Riyadh taxi
